GULF BREEZE SPEECH AND LANGUAGE
Maximize Your Potential
Gulf Breeze Speech and Language was created in 2023 after payment model changes led to changes in the quantity and duration of speech therapy services available in hospitals, skilled nursing facilities, and home health care. The result has been more focus on “staying out of the hospital” and acclimating to a new normal than true rehabilitation.
We want to change that.
Meet the Owner
Lauren Quail MS, CCC-SLP hails from central Indiana. She obtained her Bachelor of Arts from DePauw University and her Master of Science in Communication Sciences and Disorders from Indiana State University. She has lived in Santa Rosa County since 2018, and for a brief (but exciting) few years, she lived in and around Nashville, TN. With 10 years of experience in a variety of settings including skilled nursing facilities, home healthcare, outpatient facilities, rehabilitation hospitals, and public schools, Lauren has not found a patient population she does not enjoy.
In her free time, Lauren enjoys time with her family; book club, nature walks, and beach days with friends; and snuggles with her dogs.

Do you provide any specialized therapy programs?Yes! Lauren is licensed to provide SPEAK OUT! Therapy Program. SPEAK OUT is a disciplined approach for patients with Parkinson's Disease. Additionally, Lauren is the only speech-language pathologist within several hours who is certified in the Life Participation Approach to Aphasia (LPAA). This designation is given to speech-language pathologists who have not only taken extensive training in aphasia treatment, but these clinicians also work to improve psychosocial outcomes for people with aphasia through goal-setting and personalized care plans. This year Lauren also completed training for Lymphedema Management for Head and Neck Cancer patients. If you or a loved one have had difficulty speaking or swallowing due to edema or a "woody" neck since completing cancer treatment, Lauren may be able to help!

What is your cost? Our first session will be a comprehensive evaluation. This helps us determine your course of therapy. Comprehensive evaluations are $250 total. Once the initial evaluation is complete, we can begin individual therapy sessions at $160. Each session is 45 minutes.
-
Do you accept Medicare?Yes! We accept traditional Medicare (Part B).
-
Do you take my insurance?Yes! We accept most commercial insurances. We are in-network with traditional Medicare, Tricare for Life, and AARP United Healthcare Medicare Supplement. For all other insurance coverage, not listed above, we will provide a good faith estimate to you and bill your insurance as an out-of-network provider, if your plan allows for out of network benefits.
-
Can I pay with an FSA/HSA card?Yes! Your therapy visits can be paid for by any FSA or HSA account.
-
What should I expect in our sessions? The sessions are tailored to each patient and their individual goals. Overall, the focus of the sessions is on exercises for voice, speech, language, and/or swallowing. These exercises aim to strengthen the muscles of the mouth and throat, as well as enhance neural connections in the brain.
-
Do I need to do home exercises? Will you provide those to me?Yes! Home exercises are essential to your care. By completing regular home exercises, clients often experience faster and more significant improvements compared to those who do not. Lauren understands that her clients aim for maximum results; therefore, she will provide you with the appropriate set of home exercises to ensure your success.
-
Can my spouse or care-giver join me for my appointment?Yes! However, due to HIPAA regulations, you will need to sign a document for Lauren, allowing another individual to hear discussions about your treatment. If having someone with you would help ensure you follow your treatment plan and home exercises, Lauren fully supports this.
-
If I can't get to my appointment, do you provide transportation to and from appointments? No. Unfortunately, at this time, we cannot offer transportation services. However, Lauren understands some clients may not have an available or safe way to get to outpatient therapy. Until Lauren can offer these services, she recommends contacting your local community services for information on transportation options.
-
Do you provide teletherapy/telemedicine via my computer?Yes! However, due to the nature of most disorders that Lauren treats, she typically conducts initial comprehensive evaluations (first sessions) in person, rather than via teletherapy. Let's have a phone discussion first to determine the best approach. In the meantime, please note that Lauren's sessions are very engaging. During a teletherapy session, you will not be able to hold your phone and perform exercises simultaneously. This would be challenging for you and for Lauren, as she needs to see your face to assess your progress. Therefore, you cannot use a cell phone for your session. However, if you have a home computer or tablet with high-speed internet for streaming, this may be an ideal option for you.
-
Do you have group therapy sessions? Or community services sessions?Yes! As a Licensed SPEAK OUT! provider, Lauren leads a free weekly group speech and voice therapy class to facilitate carryover of SPEAK OUT! therapeutic interventions These free sessions are exclusively for Parkinson's patients, offering an inclusive environment. The group sessions are helpful to those who want to be with others with similar therapy needs.
-
Do you have new treatment options I should know about?Yes! Lauren is actively collaborating with leaders in the aphasia community to provide free opportunities for socialization and functional language practice to individuals diagnosed with aphasia. Stay tuned for more details!
